We will try to cover your underpinned home even if you've suffered from subsidence in the last 10 years, following a full structural engineer's report and certificate of structural adequacy.
We can cover contents in transit; money and credit cards (up to limits); and valuables, jewellery and electrical items. Underpinned house insurance contents cover limits can be extended over Christmas and weddings to accommodate extra belongings in your home.
Contents only cover can be provided with a ‘temporary accommodation exclusion’ endorsement added to the policy. We need the same level of information from you, but contents only cover for houses underpinned in the last 10 years we do not need full structural engineer's report or certificate of structural adequacy, just a confirmation that all repairs have been completed with no further signs/issues.
Most mortgage providers require insurance to be in place before completion. Although we can’t transfer the policy to the new owner, we can consider the risk for the new owner, if you share your documentation.
If your underpinned house becomes uninhabitable, alternative accommodation cover helps with the cost of staying somewhere else until the insured damage to buildings has been repaired and you can return home.
When you need to make a claim, we'll guide you through the process and get your claim settled as quickly as possible.
You are entitled to a full refund of the premium paid if you find the policy unsuitable for your needs and cancel it within 14 days of receipt of your policy documents (so long as no claims have been made) at inception or renewal date. f you need to cancel your cover during the 14-day cooling off period you will be charged relevant administration costs for setting up the policy.
